Great Day of Longnose Gar Fishing on West Point Lake!

Colin contacted me for Round Two of Gar Fishing on West Point Lake and this time he brought along his brother Tad and friend and co-worker Patrick. Tad and Patrick have never caught a Gar before but they have always thought it would be great fun.

Patrick got things started quickly with our biggest Gar of the day which also turned out to be Patrick's largest fish caught ever! I say CAUGHT because when he told me it was the biggest fish he had ever caught I said "But it's not the biggest fish you've ever hooked!"

Without a way to measure and weight it, not that I need it anymore, the Gar was pretty close to 17 pounds and 52 inches long! Ok I'll give him 18! Well what do you think?

Patrick was extremely proud of his first Longnose Gar as you can tell by this video and rightfully so!

There's no question Patrick was excited! He couldn't quit smiling the whole time he landed and released this Gar.

Then Colin got in on the action tangling a nice Gar. Colin fishes hard and you can tell he loves doing adventuresome outdoors type stuff and it's always a pleasure to have him along.

He fished hard that day and I wish he could have snagged that ole big one. Boy did he have a chance too! As Colin pulls and twitches his Rope Lure along this huge girl appears right on the bait's tail and Collin tried to give it another twitch but the huge Gar swam away out of sight. That would have been a catch to remember!

Meanwhile Tad has been figuring it out from the back of the boat and before you know it he's reeling in his first Gar of the day. He wasn't saying much back there; just taking in the view while honing his "Gar Eyes" casting skills. It paid off with two Gar in the boat!

Notice the Gar Teeth Silhouette!

Wrapping things up it was an extreme pleasure having these fellow outdoorsmen along for another adventuresome Longnose Gar Fishing Guide Trip on beautiful West Point Lake.

I still have a few trip dates available so If you want to try something a little different, like fishing with rope for toothy creatures, then I'm your guy!

Here's a few for picture from the day...

Until next time!

Back and Better Than Ever!

Forgive me for not posting over the last couple of years. I have a few health setbacks but I'm well and ready for the 2015 West Point Lake Gar Season! During my absence I bought a new boat! I retired the 1991 Stratos Bass Boat for a 2005 Key West Bay Reef Center Console with lots of room and a T-Top for summer comfort on those long hot days.

So who's in the mood to catch a big Longnose Gar with me? I have a few trips still available!
