My First Day On The Water In 2012 Was A Perfect Gar Fishing Day

Man what a perfect day for Longnose Gar Fishing on beautiful West Point Lake. The high today was near 90 degrees and the wind was 5 mph, just enough to cool me down a bit.

Adding to the great weather, the Gar fishing wasn't at all bad either. After missing a couple of big ole Gar I landed this nice 18lb-5oz 56 inch Longnose. She wasn't none to happy to get snagged either! She gave my shoulder a good yanking and didn't want to stay still for me to remove the rope from it's teeth.

I finally got her untangled and as always, I let her go to fight another day.

All in all a perfect day for Longnose Gar Fishing for my first full day on the lake.
